Mastodon/Fediverse Instances ↑

It is very important to do your own due diligence in regards to the choice of a fannish Mastodon1/Fediverse2 server. Different instances can have very different rules and cultures. Hit the 'explore' and 'local' options to check them out in advance, and ask friends for recommendations. Check out A Super Simple Guide to Fandom Masto by asya.

    Footnotes

  1. Mastodon is a decentralised, federated, community-owned, ad-free microblogging software. Different mastodon servers (aka instances) can talk to each other, so you only need an account on one to interact with the entire network (aka 'the fediverse').
  2. Mastodon is only one of many different software packages to make up the entire network (aka 'the fediverse'). Others include Pixelfed, Calckey, and Akkoma.
