Roundup for Week 49 of 2022

I've been reading a bit of fic posted in Russian, and translated by my browser. Those I've read were written by different authors, but there's a similarity to them that I can't quite put my finger on. Lyrical? Poetic? Something like that.

These posts are my weekly periodic 'round up' of the things I've been up to this week lately.

Reading

All Along the Watchtower by leonidaslion
Legal in New York by Wallissa

Writing

Posted the first chapter of Stellar Collision, my new wincest fic. It'll be 3 chapters when done, now I just have to write the remaining two chapters.

Read on AO3 or SqWA

Watching

Finally knocked Archive 81 off my watchlist. I might have stayed up way too late the second night because it was that good.

Watched the last couple eps of The Peripheral. I'm not familiar with the source, but seems like they left it open for another season.

Half Bad: The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself sucked me right in and I stayed up way too late finishing it. Very good.

Staying up way too late binging Netflix shows is an ongoing theme for me apparently.

Mastodon

Check out this link for the detail on what federation and defederation on mastodon means and how it works. There was also some discussion on Mastodon a week or so back.

I published a wee message for those trying to interact (with me specifically, but may be useful for others as well) from instances limited by Fandom.ink, like aethy, or fandom.community: I'm not ignoring you, I swear

Fandom

Bro Bone Bang

Bro Bone Bang Round 3 is open and this time the prompt theme is songs.

The Bro Bone Bang is an SPN fandom event which welcomes all creations for all ships, as long as the ship is comprised of Sam and Dean Winchester (or iterations thereof) and as long as the creation features them boning throughout.

Russian Fic Exodus

I've noticed a fair amount of Russian fic posted to AO3 recently, and it looks like there may be an exodus or backup going on.

from slashbook.net (translated)

Russia has passed a law banning the promotion of non-traditional relations and gender reassignment. Advocacy, in the interpretation of the law, is the creation of a positive image of these same relationship. Some work on Ficbook may fit this definition.

I'm glad they can find a safe home for their work on AO3 if it's necessary.

Website Updates

A few new Fic Recs.
